Giving Counseling Abaout Local Food – Based PMT on Mother’s Behavior of Toddler Aged 3 – 5 Years at Posyandu Demangan Tanjunganom District Nganjuk Regency

Abstract

Providing supplemental food will help meet the nutritional needs of toddlers. One effort to change the behavior of under-five mothers in the provision of local food – based food additives is to provide is counseling to recognize the types of additional food. Purpose from this research to know the effect of giving counseling about local food – based PMT on mother’s behavior of toddler aged 3-5 years at posyandu demangan tanjunganom district nganjuk regency. The design of this research is pre experimental designs using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Population in this research is mother of child aged 3-5 years which amounted to 32 peoples. Samples taken using in this study amounted to 32peoples. The sampling technique used is proportional random sampling. Data collection using questionnaire and sheet. Based on the results of research before giving counseling obtained most of the respondents have the behavior of local food – based PMT less as much as 14 respondents (43.7%). After giving counseling obtained most of respondent have behavior of local food – based PMT enough 16 responden (60.0%). The result of Paired t-Test analysis shows that there is influence of giving counseling about local food – based PMT to behavior before counseling with behavior after counseling with significance value 0,001 <0,05. The role of posyandu in improving mother’s knowledge about the local food – based supplementary feeding needs to be improved, because by increasing mother’s knowledge about the local food – based supplementary feeding will also increase the mother’s behavior toward local food – based supplement.
